Maintenance & Care
WARNING!
Prior to any adjustment, maintenance, or service work, disconnect the mains power plug!
General maintenance measures:
• Wipe chips and dust off the machine from time to time using a cloth. In order to extend the service life of the tool, oil the rotary parts once monthly. Do not oil the motor.
• When cleaning the plastic, do not use corrosive products.
Brush inspection:
Check the carbon brushes after the first 50 operating hours with a new machine or when new brushes have been fitted. After carrying out the first check, repeat the check every 10 operating hours.
If the carbon is worn to a length of 6 mm, or if the spring or contact wire are burned or damaged, it is necessary to replace both brushes. If the brushes are found to be usable following removal, it is possible to reinstall them.
Brush replacement:
Your mitre saw has externally accessible brush assemblies that should be periodically checked for wear. Proceed as follows when replacement is required:
• Unplug your mitre saw.
WARNING! Failure to unplug mitre saws could result in accidental starting causing possible serious personal injury.
• Remove brush cap with a screwdriver. The brush assembly is spring loaded and will pop out when you remove brush cap.
• Remove brush assembly.
• Check for wear. Replace both brushes when either has less than 5mm length of carbon remaining. Do not replace one side without replacing the other.
• Reassemble using new brush assemblies. Make sure the limit slot on the brush is aligned with the limit block on the brush holder.
• Make sure brush cap is oriented correctly (straight) and replace.
