The following advice should be helpful while using your petrol-pressure washer.
Daily checks:
Check the engine oil level
Fill the top of the oil filler neck with SAE30 or SAE15w40 engine oil
If you have a pump with a sight gauge, check that the pump oil is halfway up the oil sight gauge.
Some DIY axial pumps don't require regular oil level checks because they are permanently sealed.
Check all nuts and bolts are tight.
Starting the engine
Fill with fresh unleaded petrol.
Switch the engine ON/OFF switch to ON.
Move the petrol ON/OFF tap to ON
Move the Choke lever to 'Start' or 'Close'.
Move the throttle lever to 2/4 throttle.
Connect the mains water supply to the pump.
Pull in the trigger in the high-pressure lance to avoid pressure build-up.
Pull start the engine until it starts.
Slowly move the choke lever to the 'Run' or 'Open' position.
General tips
Never start the engine without first running water through the pump. The pump's seals could overheat and break if there isn't any water flowing through them. The pump pistons and seals are lubricated and cooled by the water.
Always store in a frost-free place. If the pump freezes any water inside the pump will expand as it freezes and may crack the pump components.
If drawing water from a barrel, it is advisable to ensure that the water level is higher than the pump.
Always make sure that the suction pipe connections are airtight. If any air is sucked into the pump, it will not prime properly and will not build up pressure.
If using the black low-pressure nozzle which allows the detergent to be drawn into the water stream, do not use a too-long (more than 20m) high-pressure hose, as this will build up pressure and the detergent function may not work.
